European Association of Social Anthropologists (EASA) Media Anthropology Network is discussing working papers about socio-cultural aspects of media technology uses within the scope of e-seminars via the Network’s mailing list. Some of these papers and discussions address internet technologies from a range of different perspectives. The website of the Network also provides annotated bibliographies, information about media anthropology events, and selected discussions from the mailing list as PDF documents.

Another film event, this weekend  – the weekend of French film, from 12-16 April 2007, Dom Omladine. Balkan Slav Spirit and Dom Omladine organized the festival of seven premiere films presenting new tendencies in cinematographie as well as films with international awards. From 12 – 20th April 2007, in Yugoslav Film Archives (Jugoslovenska Kinoteka) duirng next days you may enjoy in opus of Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci, beginning with Novecento (1976) and closing with The Dreamers (2003). The programme you may find here.

I am hopefully managing = multitasking, publishing the book is on the hold while i’m hardly finding the time to modificate and change the nameservers for the domain, doing both hardware and sofware work. But, I was almost to forget that besides huge ‘to-do’ list, the FEST starts in 3 days, and the guest of honor (among other guests) of the International Film festival in Belgrade, will be director Bob Rafelson, known for Five Easy Pieces .Program of the Fest can be downloaded here.

Great start of the year for the filmophiles and great film programe of this years’ FEST – 35th Belgrade International Film Festival , under the slogan : “Da li si kadar za Fest?” . Events will take place at Sava center, Cultural center- Belgrade, “Dom Sindikata” and Yugoslav Film Archives (Muzej jugosloveneske kinoteke). Time: from 23rd February – 4th March 2007. Program is selected into 7 parts with variety of great films: Europe out of Europe, Facts and puzzles, Fantasy, German movie, Horizons, Lighthouse, Miss. There is interesting list of guests that will come to Belgrade and Festival (from Europe, USA, Japan) but officially will be published later in press and on web site. One of my recommendations, recently watched – positive surprise (after bad ‘Bad education’) by P.Almodovar – film Volver with excellent P.Cruz.

From 14 -19th Nov., ’06. in Yugoslav Film Archive (in Serbian language popularly known as Jugoslovenska kinoteka) in Kosovska st, downtown of Belgrade, next week is opening the festival of Japanese film, starting on 14.11. with Takeshi Kitano‘s film: Kikujiro no natsu (Kikuđirovo leto). Belgrade citizens can enjoy the films of the following authors: Yasuzo Masamura, Masahiro Shinoda, Keisuke Kinoshita, Kon Ichikawa, Akira Kurosawa, Toshiya Fujita,Masato Harada, Yasuo Furuhata. Festival will be closed on 19th Nov.with Kitano’s film Kidzu ritan.

Michael Palin, known for being one of the members of the comedy group Monty Python, and now TV traveller, currently filming his new series of ‘Palin’s New Europe’, visited yesterday Belgrade. Palin and his crew have been spotted in various locations in the Balkans and Eastern Europe over the last few months, as he writes in his travel journal.
