Voting: No Government or Sinkin’ Soon?

I wouldn’t talk about politics or anything that strikes me these days, so I will add no news or anything particular. I am just expressing in poetic way by reminding you on these great music songs – No Government by Nicolette (Massive Attack vocal),  and the latest from Norah Jones – Sinkin’ Soon. Personally, this one reminds me on Tom Waits. You choose. You have chosen.

World poetry day

art,Belgrade,Blogroll,culture,general,media,poetry,Serbia,World wide — Danica @ 9:33 am, March 21, 2007

On todays World Poetry Day, UNESCO pays tribute to great poet, Pablo Neruda.I will pay tribute to my favourite Serbian writer – Milos Crnjanski and Sumatra.

Sumatra

Sad smo bezbrižni, laki i nežni.
Pomislimo: kako su tihi, snežni
vrhovi Urala.

Rastuži li nas kakav bledi lik,
što ga izgubismo jedno veèe,
znamo da, negde, neki potok,
mesto njega, rumeno teèe!

Po jedna ljubav, jutro, u tuðini,
dušu nam uvija, sve tešnje,
beskrajnim mirom plavih mora,
iz kojih crvene zrna korala,
kao, iz zavièaja, trešnje.

Probudimo se noæu i smešimo, drago,
na Mesec sa zapetim lukom.
I milujemo daleka brda
i ledene gore, blago, rukom.

====

“Sumatra”

Now we are carefree, light and tender.
We just think: how quiet are the snowy
peaks of the Urals.
If a pale figure makes us sad,
the one we lost to an evening,
we also know that somewhere, instead of it a rivulet
flows and is all red.
Each love, each morning in a foreign land
envelops our soul closer by its hand
in an endless tranquility of blue seas,
in which red corals glitter
like the cherries of my homeland.
We wake at night and sweetly smile
at the Moon with its bent bow
and we caress those distant hills
and the icy mountains with our tender hand.

JPG magazine photo competition

For the next issue of the JPG magazine, three themes on the run: Entropy, The Breakthrough, and Beauty Redefined. I gave my little contribution and hope that one of these two photos will gain some votes (at least there is a team from San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery). In the next 2 weeks you can vote for any submitted photo you like. Until then, I will try to find my vision of re-defined Beauty.

UK Sci-Documentary: The Great Global Warming Swindle

Blogging,Blogroll,general,internet,media,Science,technology,vlog,World wide — Danica @ 8:55 pm, March 16, 2007

As I am one of the victim of the pre-early spring pollen season in March (!?! no snow for months), I found an interesting documentary on climate and global warming. This film had premiere on Channel 4 in the UK, on March 8, 2007, directed by Martin Durkin, and shows how climate turned into political ideology. In 1 hr and 13 minutes you will hear interesting polemic and different opinions on causes of the global warming. From the source, a quote:

Martin Durkin has said that he deliberately chose a provocative title, and describes his work as “seriously controversial” (in the sense of creating controversy about serious issues). Channel 4, preempting the controversy, said, “It is essentially a polemic and we are expecting it to cause trouble, but this is the controversial programming that Channel 4 is renowned for.”

Some of the people who are interviewed in the film are Patrick Moore, co-founder of, but for the past 20 years a critic of, Greenpeace; Richard Lindzen, professor of meteorology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Nigel Calder, former editor of New Scientist; and Paul Reiter of the Pasteur Institute. Carl Wunsch was also interviewed, but has since said that he disagrees with the film’s conclusions and the way his interview material was used.

To think about – Wikipedia huge misconception

Writing on Wiki(pedia) news, here’s different view on Wikipedia, open source, data Tsunami and the Lenovo Laptop Phone, by Rob Enderle via TechNews World. To be or not to be?

At the core of open source is the belief that mysterious others assure the quality of an open source product. However, few actually have the skills required to do such a review. If, in the case of Wikipedia — where there should be a lot of experts — you still can’t trust the content, the people or the quality, then how can you trust that open source works where such a review is less likely?
