Fetch it!

internet, semantic web — Danica @ 10:25 pm, October 30, 2006

Today a friend introduced me ‘new’ (moi-4 months techno-retarded person:) tag meta search engine Fetch based in San Fransico. TagFetch can search multiple tag sites from one location: includes Flickr, YouTube del.icio.us, Technorati, Feedster, Ice Rocket, Topix, Digg and Google Blogs.  Type some word, name, term, something - i got  search information “Server timed out try again.” (maybe I was too demanding)

which one is better: formal(Ism) or semantics? one or two?(:

Not that bad, actually GREAT. Me and Day. Hailing the taxi (fighting with a yuppie for it), through the jungle of streets to get on time. All well done, words ran like a river(: And USEful information before ’speech/paper book presentation/critics/defence/Q&A’ in the morning (that’s why blogs exsist, thanks PJ). In more than hour and a half and after my perfect and ‘clarifying’ speech - ‘we’ could learn from some Serbian academic experts: following: electronic publications (published by major publishers) and open access archives/Dl’s/repositories, are not “scientifically” verified, also that i was ‘using’ too much of ‘Google’ term (scholar, SE, all services) in the paper, that people who (in all professional areas) use Google Scholar services are ’suspicious’ and information is ”not valid”, ”verified”, etc. As well as quoting ‘we do not know how ‘these and this’ people are world wide IT experts’. And my sentences/phrases have ‘flaws’ ( I found ‘theirs” later on, so formal and burocratic). Though I was commended on my semantics and pioneer research work (:). Seems like formalism is taking over the ‘role’ over the content (in this case), and all constructive ideas, issues, posted questions to overcome the current situation fell into the water. Form is what matters (for some of us). I didn’t even had a chance to mention or say L, and Linux as a primer…and being interrupted. For many issues.  Countires in transition functionate like this. Unfortunately. My time is coming and I really do not bother for formalities, non-academic behaviour, as well as for tomorrows voting for new serbian constitution. I’m looking for a decent publisher now(:

After all, I did PERFECT and constructive thing today, and those souls in the audience who understood what I was talking about - came after with a smile, for a handshake and few positive and creative comments(: And i DID wear my jeans pants and had my new ‘old’ stunning haircut:) B&B.

internet addicts = alcoholics?

Cyberculture, general, internet — Danica @ 10:48 pm,

Recent Stanford University study of internet addiction showed, (according to slashdot) that interviewed 2513 adults in a US survey, nearly 14% of them said they found it difficult to stay away from the internet for several days…and Approximately 6% also said their personal relationships had suffered as a result of excessive internet usage.”

I guess this percentage would be much higher on wider scale of geo- survey (apart from States). Ask yourself how many hours do you spend on the internet (for any purpose)?

    telekom making troubles

Belgrade, Serbia, general — Danica @ 8:20 am,

Those people who live in downtown of Belgrade, probably many of them doesn’t have telephone sygnal  blame it on Telekom.

Without any pre-information, main thing is that they have new web presentatation and do not care that some of us who work (and use DSL connection), need a phone line. Asking how i type this? Thanks to Nikola Tesla(: and the issue that i cannot use the phone but can (better not to say twice) internet. Fair enough.

Pamuk won Nobel Literature prize for 2006

    culture, general, media — Danica @ 8:19 am, October 13, 2006

Orhan Pamuk, a political dissident who has often clashed with the establishment, won the 2006 Nobel Literature prize, becoming the first Turk to win the coveted award.Pamuk, author of the book My Name is Red, Snow and half-a-dozen other novels, won the Nobel Literature Prize for a body of work that probes the crossroads of Muslim and Western cultures. Pamuk was the first writer in the Muslim world who has earned plaudits abroad and condemnation at home for speaking openly about the suffering of Armenians at the hands of Turks nearly a century ago.

As Ivo Andric won Nobel Literature Prize for 1961 for his great novel The Bridge on the Drina and wrote about the conflicts between Serbs and Muslims during the occupation by the Ottoman Empire, it all sems like the history’s repeating…

    angels and devils

Belgrade, Serbia, culture, film, media — Danica @ 6:48 am, October 11, 2006

This evening in Belgrade is the premiere of the film of Srdjan Dragojevic- We are not Angels 3: Rock & Roll Strike Back .

After the total disaster of sequel named We are not angels 2 (2005) , it is interesting that for the No.3 , Dragojevic made this film based on his story “Dan kad je crk’o Marsal” (The Day when Marshal died) , reffering to Tito (known as Marshal). Also, interesting appearance is famous serbian basketball player Vlade Divac, former NBA player, and some of the interesting urban legends and actors. Hope this film will rock.

For those who are not familiar with, We are not angels , is a Serbian comedy that became the most popular film in 90’s in the areas of former Yugoslavia, during the time of big political disturbances. History and influences…
